We have been very moved by the amazing feedback we have
gotten on our Andes Survivors Expeditions so we decided
to bring the Andes experience to the Rockies for all
of you who haven't been able to join us. We hope you
can be part of this unforgettable trip.
This is your chance to share, in a very exclusive group
of 11 participants, 5 days in the Colorado Rocky
Mountains with Eduardo Strauch (One of the 16
Andes survivors from the amazing story depicted in the
movie and book
Alive!).
In this very intimate setting you can ask Eduardo (who
was one of the three Strauch cousins who played an important
leadership role among the group) any questions you'd
like and hear his first-hand account of what was like
to survive 72 days on the Andes. You can hear about
the unbelievable hardships endured (high altitude, extreme
cold, avalanches, utter isolation and the difficult
decision to survive by eating the bodies of their own
friends) but also, surprisingly, about moments of intense
happiness, reflection and enlightenment.
The itinerary will include:
An intimate Lecture and Dinner at the historic Boulderado
Hotel in Boulder, Colorado with Eduardo. Here is your
chance to meet Eduardo in person, have dinner together
and enjoy his incredible presentation. On this audio-visual
presentation Eduardo will be talking about the details
of his personal experience. Ricardo Peña will
be doing a presentation on the discoveries he has done
in the crash site in the last few years including the
Tail of the Fairchild, Eduardo's coat and airplane artifacts
as well as a photo slideshow of the first and only expedition
to re-trace the escape route
(Ricardo lead this National Geographic expedition in
December 2005). Our caterers will provide dinner and
wine/drinks.
A visit to scenic Loveland Pass on the continental divide.
This pass does not only provide a spectacular view of
the Rocky Mountains, but it is at the same altitude
the survivors lived at for 72 days. A short walk will
give you an idea of the physical efforts involved in
surviving at these
elevations. This night will be spent in an elegant resort
in the Vail area.
Days 3-5 will consist of a mountain hut trip with llamas.
We will hike to a beautiful mountain hut at 11,400'
in the heart of the Rockies where we will spend 2 nights.
This hut (The 10th Mountain Division Hut) is surrounded
by incredible views of alpine forests, nearby lakes
and snowcapped
mountains.
We feel that this impressive mountain setting is the
perfect place for Eduardo to share not only the details
of his incredible survival story but also the great
lessons of life learned. We will be using llamas to
carry our gear, which will make our hikes easier. For
those looking for more of a physical challenge on day
4 we have the option of hiking to the summit of Homesteak
peak, which is 13,200 feet above sea level. On day 5
we will return to the Boulder area. See complete
itinerary for details.

We have designed this trip to be within the physical
abilities of most people. As a minimum you must
be able to hike 3-4 miles on day 3 and 5. Once
on the trip you will have many chances to make
it a more physically challenging experience if
you desire so.
The price for this 5-day itinerary is $2250 US
Dollars. We are limited to 11 spots for two reasons:
1. We want this trip to be a small exclusive group
having an intimate experience. 2. The hut is limited
in space so there will only be enough room for
11 participants, Eduardo, Ricardo Peña
and the assistant guides. For more details on
this trip see the attached documents: Itinerary,
Payment info, and Gear list. Sign up now! (only
5 spots available!)
